Geneva show – Alfa’s 4C is a show star
Alfa Romeo has wowed visitors to the Geneva Motor Show today by unveiling a mid-engined two-seater roadster seemingly directly targeted at the likes of Lotus.
Even better news is that the 4C Concept will go on sale, probably next year, as the first of a family of small sports cars from Alfa and its sister brand Fiat.
The 4C is a lightweight machine, tipping the scales at less than 850kg aided by sizable amounts of carbonfibre used in the body construction. The car measures up at around four metres long with a wheelbase of less than 2.4 metres.
Power for the car comes form the 1.7-litre turbocharged petrol unit currently used in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Combined with a twin clutch transmission it will offer “more than 200bhp” giving the car a 0-62mph time of “under five seconds.” Top speed is expected to be more than 155mph.
