And finally from Geneva – some of the wilder concepts
Geneva might be a very important Motor Show but it is also one famed for its concepts, some of which stretch credibility a long way…
In this final report from the show we show some of the wilder wheeled creations on display.
The Giugario Brivido is a car most notable for – its doors, definitely its doors… It’s a hybrid, its Italian creator describing it as a GT with supercar performance but also a respect for the environment. Photo: Andrew Charman
And this is another Brivido, this time presented as a racing machine, in the famed Martini stripes of yesteryear. Photo: Andrew Charman
Citroën’s Tubik concept, a ‘high-tech executive shuttle’ is not a debutant as it was unveiled at last year’s Frankfurt show, but it’s worth another look, not least for its interior… Photos: Andrew Charman
Swiss firm Rinspeed seems to live for its annual moment of glory at Geneva. This year the concept is not a car but an axle. It’s called ‘Dock & Go’ and basically adds extra flexibility to the rear end of a Smart depending on what you need to use it for. Photo: Newspress
The Edag Light Car Sharing – cracking name… As the title suggests, it’s a lightweight electric vehicle aimed at car sharing programmes. Photo: Newspress
Bertone’s Nuccio – we think we pictured it from the right end… Described as an extreme sports car it celebrates the 100th anniversary of famed Italian styling house Bertone. Company founder Giavanni Bertone named his son Nuccio and he took over the business after World War 2. Photo: Newspress
The biggest makers can do mad concepts too. This is Toyota’s Diji – dubbed by its creators as “the ultimate in pesonalisation.” Its whole body, inside and out, is a display screen, a bit like an iPad on wheels… Photo: Andrew Charman
And finally – a lot less bother with a hover? Valmet Automotive describes this, the Dawn, as a ‘technological platform to display state-of-the-art electric vehicle engineering services in an unconventional fashion.’ Amongst its technical specification are different charging technologies and a lightweight body structure including carbonfibre components. What the electric cooker ring on the front bumper is for is not specificed… Photo: Andrew Charman
