More power heads McLaren upgrades
Alongside the almost 25 extra horses, the new measures are said to make the car “easier to live with.”
The power hike boosts the mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged V8 engine to 616bhp. Both the engine and transmission have also been modified to improve their responsiveness.
Other changes include the opportunity to choose your own engine note… The 12C’s unique Intake Sound Generator (ISG) system, which controls the amount of engine intake sound heard in the cabin, is now programmable across three levels in all three Powertrain modes allowing the driver to select the amount of engine noise he or she wants to enjoy.
The revised car is available to order now at a price starting from £176,000 in the UK and customers who have already ordered cars are being the offered the upgrade package at no extra cost.
According to McLaren Automotive MD Antony Sheriff, the upgrades are typical of a manufacturer with a racing heritage; “It is in our nature to continuously seek out improvements,” he says.
