Jaguar F-Type to debut in Paris
Jaguar will show the production-ready version of its much-awaited F-Type sports car at the Paris Motor Show in September.
The car has been much trailed, even competing in ‘camouflaged’ form at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
In announcing the F-Type debut, Jaguar has also confirmed that it will be launched as a convertible with three petrol engine options.
These will comprise Jaguar’s new supercharged 3.0-litre V6 with either 335bhp or 375bhp, and a range-topping supercharged 5.0-litre V8. This is based on the existing 503bhp unit but Jaguar is yet to reveal its power in the F-Type – it is expected to be lower.
All three engines will drive the rear wheels through an eight-speed auto transmission, and all will be fitted with start-stop technology.
Jaguar Global Brand Director Adrian Hallmark is describing the Paris reveal as a truly significant day in the brand’s history; “It will mark the company’s return to the sports car market, a market it originally helped to create,” he says.
“As its sporting forebears did in their era, the F-Type will break new ground by delivering stunning sports car performance while vividly demonstrating Jaguar’s cutting-edge engineering technologies and world-class design excellence,” Hallmark adds.
